Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

Educational & Technical Qualifications

• Must have successfully graduated as an Experimental Test Pilot on Fixed Wing Aircraft from the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), IAF, or an equivalent recognized foreign Test Pilot School.

Flying Experience & Medical Standards

• Source: Candidates must be from the Flying Branch of the Indian Armed Forces, DRDO, or NAL.
• Flight Hours: More than 2,000 hours of total flying experience.
• Licence & Endorsement: Valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) endorsed on aircraft operated at HAL TAD Kanpur (Do 228 / H-228 / HS 748).
• Test Flying Experience: Proven track record in developmental flight test programmes of fixed-wing aircraft. Candidates with more than 2 years of developmental test flying experience will be preferred.
• Medical Category: Must hold an A1G2 / A2G2 (P) medical category or equivalent, without any operational flying restriction on fixed-wing aircraft equipped with ejection seats.
• Desirable Experience:
  • Instructional flying at the basic or intermediate stage.
  • Flight testing of modern aircraft platforms or technology demonstrator prototypes for higher-generation platforms.

Roles, Responsibilities & Scope of Work

The designated Consultant / Experimental Test Pilot will perform critical flight test operations, such as:

• Conducting production and development flight testing on aircraft platforms managed at TAD Kanpur, including the Do 228, HS 748, HJT 36, and future developmental programs.
• Coordinating with design centres within HAL, foreign OEMs, DRDO laboratories, Service HQs (IAF, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard), and procurement directorates.
• Assisting with civil airworthiness and military airworthiness certifications through civil aviation authorities and CEMILAC.
• Imparting or undergoing necessary ground and flight training globally.
• Augmenting flight test requirements for sister divisions on platforms such as Kiran, HTT-40, Mirage 2000 (M2k), LCA Tejas, and related variants.
