CSIR-NIO Regional Centre Visakhapatnam is conducting a walk-in interview on 07th August 2026 for 15 Technician and Graduate Apprentice posts. Eligible candidates can attend with their NATS registration ID.
CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Regional Centre Visakhapatnam, has released an official notification (Notification No. NIO/HRM/Apprenticeship/RCV/02/2026) for the engagement of Technician (Diploma) and Graduate (Non-Engineering Degree) Apprentice Trainees under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

1. Technician Apprenticeship (Diploma)

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: Full-time 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology granted by a State Board/Council of Technical Education in the relevant discipline.
- Graduate Apprentice: Full-time Graduate degree (Non-Engineering) granted by a recognized University/Institution in the relevant discipline.
- Passing Year Requirement: Only candidates who passed their qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible to apply.
Age Limit (As on 07th August 2026)
- Technician / Diploma Apprentices: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 24 years.
- Graduate / Degree Apprentices: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 26 years.
Age Relaxation:
- SC / ST: Upper age relaxation up to 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Upper age relaxation up to 3 years
- PwBD Candidates: Upper age relaxation up to 10 years (15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC-NCL)
- Ex-Servicemen: Upper age relaxation as per extant Government of India rules.
Other Ineligibility / Conditions
- Candidates must register on the NATS Portal to be eligible for the interview.
- Candidates who have already completed or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training elsewhere are not eligible.
- Candidates having 1 year or more job experience are not eligible.
- Distance learning, part-time, private diplomas, sandwich diplomas, or short-term certificate courses are not acceptable.
Selection Process & Walk-In Interview Details
Selection will be made on the basis of a Walk-In Interview scheduled at the Visakhapatnam Regional Centre. If the number of candidates attending the interview is high, the Selection Committee will adopt its own screening criteria to shortlist candidates in proportion to available vacancies.

How to Register and Attend Walk-In Interview
Step 1: Online Portal Registration (Mandatory)
Before attending the interview, all candidates must enrol on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal:
- Visit the NATS official portal: Click Here
- Click on Student -> Student Register.
- Complete the registration application form.
- Note down your generated Unique Student Enrolment ID, which must be mentioned in the application form.
Step 2: Prepare Documents for Interview
Candidates must attend the interview with the filled application form (available at the end of the official notification or website) along with original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies:
- Duly filled application form along with CV / Resume
- NATS Student Enrolment ID Number
- Educational Qualification Certificates & Marksheets (Diploma / Degree / SSLC / HSC)
- Proof of Date of Birth (SSLC/HSC Certificate or Birth Certificate)
- Valid Aadhaar Card
- Caste / Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS in GOI format, if applicable)
- Passport-size photograph
Important General Conditions
- No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending the walk-in interview.
- Accommodation: No hostel facilities are provided; selected candidates must make their own stay arrangements.
- Certification: Upon successful completion of 1 year of training, apprentices will be awarded the National Apprenticeship Certificate by NCVT / BOAT.
- No Job Guarantee: Apprenticeship training does not guarantee permanent employment at CSIR-NIO.
